The beach is free and open around the clock; Pier 60 Park itself closes 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Walking out on the pier costs $1, and fishing runs about $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children 15 and under, with rod rental available for $10.

Parking

The city's Pier 60 lot at 160 S. Gulfview has 141 spaces at $3.50 an hour and empties overnight. The Marina lot at 25 Causeway Blvd is the same rate with a two hour limit, and the North Beach Parking Plaza on Poinsettia is a private garage with 700 spaces.

Watch for

Rip currents can form here without warning; watch the posted beach flags, since a double red flag closes the water to swimmers, Red tide occurs almost every year in the Gulf, per Florida Fish and Wildlife, and an active bloom can harm people as well as marine life, Lifeguards are on duty 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with towers staffed by season and weather; outside those hours the beach is unguarded
