The main lot is St. Pete Beach Access at 4700 Gulf Blvd, with smaller pull-offs at the numbered avenues. City beach parking is $5 an hour Monday through Thursday and $6 Friday through Sunday, plus a $1 an hour surcharge from February through April. Pay stations take cards only; ParkMobile and pay-by-text also work.

Watch for

Rip currents form at low spots in the sandbar, often reading as a flatter gap between the breakers; city guidance is to swim parallel to the beach until free, then angle back in, Stingrays move through the shallows in summer; the city says to shuffle your feet through the sand so they clear off before you step on one, Red tide occurs almost every year in the Gulf, per Florida Fish and Wildlife, and an active bloom can harm people as well as marine life, Sea turtles nest May 1 to October 31; keep lights and flash photos off the night beach, and fill holes and flatten sandcastles before leaving
